💊 Problematic
How can we modernize the Air&Cosmos website while respecting the print identity, organizing the experience according to user profiles and article categories, and integrating advertising in a harmonious way?
🪂 Challenge
Objective: To redesign the Air&Cosmos website by modernising its graphic identity and user experience, while maintaining strong consistency with the magazine's print universe. The main challenge was to highlight the brand's values: professionalism, technical expertise and reliability of information; in a more contemporary digital environment, by designing a fully responsive website.
User experience: Understand and meet the expectations of customers and users, while immersing them in the visual world of aeronautics.
Distinguishing between different users and categories: One of the key challenges of the project was to structure the experience around different article categories and user profiles (subscribers/non-subscribers). It was necessary to clarify access to content according to subscription level, visually highlight reserved articles, and intelligently encourage users to subscribe.
Graphic identity and interface design: Creation of an immersive and intuitive website, supported by a strong visual identity and a comprehensive Design System. The main challenge was to reflect the technical and visual world of aeronautics while facilitating navigation and understanding of the data through a clear and accessible hierarchy.
🧠 My approach
Research phase
Client consultation: I conducted four user interviews with readers of Air&Cosmos and aviation enthusiasts in order to compare the actual needs of users with the client's expectations. The objective was to identify the motivations for visiting the site, expectations, irritants, and to better understand the graphic codes specific to the world of aeronautics.
Competitor analysis: An in-depth analysis of existing media applications and websites was conducted to identify best practices in terms of filters, article presentation, complete reading paths, and subscription tunnels. The goal: to extract key design elements to build a consistent, modern, and effective user experience.
Design
UI/UX Design: Design of an engaging interface faithful to the Air&Cosmos universe, designed to offer smooth navigation, quick access to searched articles, comfortable reading on all media, and dynamic highlighting of real-time news.
Graphic identity: The layout is based on a grid inspired by HUD (avionics) interfaces, as it evokes precision, technology and control. Use of the B612 font, which is free and open-source, specifically designed for aeronautics as it is optimised for readability at all sizes, even in extreme conditions (cockpit, bright screens, low resolutions, etc.).
Advertising blocks: Implementation of necessary advertising space.
📈 Résults & Impact
Close collaboration with clients, regular user feedback and in-depth exploration led to the creation of a product that fully satisfied Air&Cosmos. This project demonstrates my ability to quickly develop a coherent visual universe and a fluid, responsive user experience.
